BigBlackHen.com was set up in Somerset in 2005 by husband and wife team Nigel and Becky Adams because they felt that there had to be a more innovative, consumer friendly and cost effective way for people to sell their homes in the internet age.

BigBlackHen.com went from success to success culminating in the company having the accolade of being voted amongst the top 20 estate agents in the country at the 2010 ESTAs, one of the biggest award ceremonies in the business. In September 2010 Nigel opened a new office in Hertfordshire where he now lives. After growing up in Little Berkhamstead, going to school in Potters Bar and playing rugby for Welwyn Rugby Club for 16 years, it is very much a case of coming home.

Before starting BigBlackHen.com, Nigel Adams was a Director of one of the most successful advertising agencies in London, having spent 16 years in the business both in the UK and overseas. He advised some of the world's top companies on advertising and marketing strategy including Ford, Guinness, Unilever and Pepsi.

One final thing: people often ask what gave us the idea for our admittedly rather unusual company name. The answer is that it was inspired by our beautiful Black Orpington hen, Clarissa. She works beautifully to get our business and your home noticed.
